  1. I have read all that and agreed with it and don't feel right spreading the word when I have no colored dolls to speak of.
BUT THAT SHALL ALL CHANGE. COME [whenever they change the meet outfits] I SHALL HAVE MY #58 AND SHE SHALL BE NAMED PARKER AND SHE SHALL BE OH SO CUTE AND HER FAVORITE MOVIE SHALL BE MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL.
AND THUS, MY ALBINO DOLL COLLECTION SHALL BE DEMOLISHED AND A RAINBOW OF SKIN TONES SHALL RULE!
I am so tired of waiting for the meet outfits to change because I want Parker so badly but I really don't need 3 of the same pink shirt.
Anyway, good job taking a stand. You can expect me to once I aquire my colored cutie of awesomeness.

    1. I think the outfits change in May. AND PARKER SOUNDS SO SO AWESOME. I'm sure she'll be super adorable!
      I can't wait to see it :)

  2. You know I've actually never thought much about this. (Mainly because I haven't really liked any of the recent girl of the years so I've stopped paying much attention to anything involving them). And it's really horrible how even if they decide to do something they can't do anything for ANOTHER YEAR. I don't even get why there wouldn't be one by now. They obviously didn't forget about it. I mean yeah the majority if people buying AG dolls are white girls but ????? Idk why that should be important??? It would actually be really cool if they started making more diverse dolls. I mean imagine how awesome it would be if they had more dolls who were different races, transgender dolls, I mean anything really. Long story short I would buy so many of those dolls I'd probably be singlehandedly supporting the AG company.

    1. And dolls are generally in development for three years at a minimum. So that's even longer!
It would be great :). If they brought out a doc goty I would suck up the high prices and buy outfits from her collection (I have my eye on #49) just to support her.
Hah, yes - I'm sure you would.

  3. Oooooh 49 is so exotic looking with her dark hair and blue eyes.
I would name her cinnamon, rainy, River, or aisling.
I love giving unsolicited name ideas, in case you can't tell. ; P

    1. IKR. She's so gorgeous I can't.
Rainy and River are such beautiful names! They really fit the color of her eyes. :) I was thinking something along the lines of Hadley Idril Kean or Merrick Idril Kean or Haldey Idril Merrick. Which one of those do you think sounds best? I'm thinking the second or third. *shrugs*
I love doing that too! :) It's always fun to name dolls. It's always fun to name anything.

    2. Hmmmmm. Not 100% sure how to pronounce all that. But I say Haldey Idril Merrick, Conquerer Of Malignant Navel Oranges.
Maybe not that last part, but If you ever have rowdy fruits in the produce isle, she's your gal.
Can't have those vegetables stepping out of line either.
*commander Hadley, come in commander Hadley- we have imposters in the citrus bin- a group of oranges have formed a gang called "grapefruits".*
      I'm having too much fun.

    3. OH MY GOODNESS YES. YES. YES. AND SHE SHALL RESTORE PEACE TO THE REALM OF THE PRODUCE SECTION AND BE THE HERO OF ALL GROCERY STORE CONSUMERS. ALL MISCHIEVOUS FOOD SHALL COWER BEFORE HER, AND SHE SHALL REIGN WITH A GOLDEN CROWN AND SILVER SCEPTER. NO INNOCENT CUSTOMERS SHALL EVER NEED FEAR ROTTEN MEATS AND OVERRIPE APPLES EVER AGAIN.
      This really is fun. :)

    4. Right now her diplomatic duties include making sure that everyone is nice and organic, pondering wether genetically modified foods are to be trusted, and getting to know the kumquats.
(Kumquats turn out to be tiny oranges, actually. I seem to be very citrus minded today.)
All those who are fit for consumption are to wage war upon the bakery goods and deli meats.

I have this brilliant (and equally horrible) idea that you should buy #49 and take her to the grocery store with her sword and take pictures of her just ruling of the produce section. That would be hilarious.

    5. She also must debate the passing of some special legislation for tomatoes - are they to be counted as veggies or fruits? An embassy must be constructed for any visitors from the cereal isle who come to discuss a lifting of tariffs, and relations with the dairy department must be handled carefully to avoid all-out nuclear war.
ALL DOUGHNUTS SHALL COWER BEFORE HER.

I should. I really should. It dang well would be.

    6. That's really funny that you like those names for her! Those are some of my favorite names, and we are going to name #49 Rain Amelia Rivers,

  4. I read the whole thing!
I agree! I don't care what AG says-I would buy a cute African American doll in a heart beat! I hang out with a small group of friends at school. 3 of them (including me) are white, but one of my friends is Columbia, and the other is Brazilian. My best friend is African American. I even have a friend from Pakistan! Besides, where are any Indian dolls? Those girls are beautiful but AG doesn't even have 1 doll for them.

By the way, I love Kanani's photos!

    1. IKR! DoCs are adorable.
Proof that the population of America is not all white. American Girl should be representing all American girls. In fact, whites will soon be a minority! So they really need to kick up their game on representation. (P. S. - your friends sound super cool! :) )
      Aw, thank you, dear. :)

  7. I'm totally going to do this! I read that post a few months ago, but I still haven't posted about it! I feel awful, especially since diversity is "my cause", if you get what I mean. I do have a Pinterest board about this, though.
I mainly had Christian, white dolls (well, 18"/14", anyways) until August, and now we have a Buddhist Hmong Lao girl, Russian Jew, a half-French Jew, Muslim Pakistani, Catholic half-Incan half-Hispanic, non-denomonational Christian bi-racial (Hispanic, Pakistani, African American), Christian Ethiopian, and a Hindu Nepali. :D Plus, we're going to get another doll soon, and she'll be a Catholic Brazilian. :D :D :D :D :D

P.S. - I'm sorry if mentioning religions is at all offensive to anyone. If it is, I'm really sorry, and please reply to this comment and let me know. Ellie, if you'd prefer me not to mention religion when commenting about dolls on here, please tell me.

    1. Wow - all that diversity in your doll collection is super awesome!! :) I wish you all the luck in your campaign!
Religion is fine by me so long as you a) don't mention it unnecessarily (as in try not to constantly randomly comment all like "GUYZ GUYZ GUYZ HERE ARE SOME BIBLE VERSES I RECENTLY LEARNED" unless it's relevant to something I or another community member said) and b) make sure to have it pertain only to you. For example, things like "I am a practicing Buddhist, and I really feel a connection with my doll that way" is fine, but things like "EVERYONE MUST CONVERT TO JUDAISM OR ELSE DIE IN HELL" and "I'm a Muslim, and in Islam we don't allow nasty sinful stuff like [something I or another community member mentioned]" is not. And always double-check to make sure nothing is obviously offensive!
(But the stuff you put in this comment is fine and actually really cool!)

    2. Thanks! :D
Ok, I was hoping it was fine, but I wanted to check. I wouldn't say those (I'm not a super religion-pushy person. Like, I go to church and all, but I'm not the "You must be ______ or you will die" kinda person.) Thanks for telling me that! I know one time I said "Ooh, this doll is really cute! She's Muslim, so I also am excited about learning about other religions" on a doll blog and I am now banned from commenting on there, so I wanted to make sure it was ok. :D

      (Thanks! :D )

Honestly, I wasn't too bothered by it. You know the occasional, erm...ultra-Christian (I'm Christian, but I hate it when people are super pushy about religions and all) Caucasian-preferring doll bloggers? It was one of those, so I was actually originally commenting to correct one of the....cultural issues her blog had. And then I saw someone comment about H4H Shola, and I kinda freaked out because I have her and love her. Hence, the problem.

    6. Urgghhhhh, yes! Though both my grandfathers are Caucasian preferring at the very least (one was born in the 30s, one in the late 40s) and occassionally it drives me nuts.
