What I Got for My Birthday 2015

*Falls from the sky and lands face first on roof. Slowly slides off and pitches into vegetable garden.*

HELLO Y'ALL.

WELL THAT WAS A GRACEFUL ENTRANCE WASN'T IT.

YES?

YES?

I THOUGHT SO.

Well anyways.

Today I'm going to be showing you guys what I got for my birthday this year! :) I'm sorry for making you wait this long, but I didn't have an opportunity to take pics until recently. :P But let's move past this with life. Shall we? *holds open door and gestures for you to enter*

Ahem.

A little disclaimer: Usually I don't get this much for my birthday. Most of the time it's a couple books and a pair of socks, and that's it. (For some reason my parents can't grasp the idea that there should be equal parts birthday and Christmas presents, and so give me a huge amount of stuff at Christmas and just a few things, almost as an afterthought, for my b-day. *shrugs*) But this year, on account of my grandma's 90th birthday, which is the day before mine, all my relatives were in town and decided to get me gifts. So yeah. That's your disclaimer :).

Let's get on with it, shall we? Sans further ado....

My cousin got me these two. The first is a thousand-pice jigsaw puzzle of a Norman Rockwell picture, and the second is a tin of chocolates. Thanks, Shannon! :)

One of my other cousins - one of those who believe All Girls Must Be Into Fashion Or Else - got me these three bracelets. To be frank, I'll probably never wear them, but we're not that close, so I'm grateful she went out of her way to get me something anyways. :) The color is pretty, and the tree charm on the far left one reminds me of the tree in Lórien where Celeborn and Galadriel live, and maybe also the Two Trees of Valinor.

LET'S JUST SAY.

REAGAN GETS ME OK.

THIS CARD IS PERFECT.

PERFECT!

And here's the inside. Thank you so much, I don't know where I would be without you as my friend, and you made this birthday ten times better.

BUT.

THERE IS MORE TO COME, PEOPLES.

PREPARE TO BE DAZZLED.

I present to y'all: the Hobbit Box!

:D :D :D

If you can't tell from the pic, this drawing is on the lid of a box. Last year, Reagan made me a LotR box, in which she decorated a box and put paper figures of the Fellowship inside. This year, she did it with the Hobbit.

*squeeeeeal*

Here is what it says inside the door.

Aaaaand here is the inside of the box!!

Isn't it awesome??

Next, we have

My new favorite book. My grandma (not the one who was turning 90, the other one) got this for me, and it's incredibly fascinating and empowering. Everyone should read it.

"But, I, like, already know the story."

Read it.

"But I have other things I want to read."

Read. It.

"But-"

READ IT.

*cough*

My grandma also got me this one. She usually doesn't like Tolkien because she hates anything that can't be explained by science, but this one is a book of poems and she likes poetry, so I guess she figured it wasn't too bad. Thank you so much, Ga! :)

*royal trumpet fanfare*

IT'S HERE.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MOM AND DAD it's everything I ever dreamed of :D.

And here is Julie modeling the purple polka-dotted dress from Dori's Doll Boutique! :) I honestly am so in love with this dress, Julie looks gorgeous, and thank you so much again, mom + dad! :)

OK, I actually wasn't expecting to get this one. My parents - and family in general - aren't very big supporters of my doll hobby at all, and usually they only limit it to one doll thing per b-day/holiday/other occasion. So when I opened the purple dress I thought, "Oh, this is the doll thing they got me," and didn't expect at ALL for them to get me this one....I still have no idea why they did it....still, thank you so much! :D

(If you want a review of anything I got, including the two doll dresses, just comment below! :) )

And they also got a pre-order of Harper Lee's new book. But that won't be showing up in physical form here until the summer.

So in conclusion thank you so so much to anyone who got me something. Love you all! :)

Oh, and another thing totally unrelated to this but still very important so must share: I'm finally getting to play Dungeons and Dragons!! :D

My dad played it a long time ago and declared it a "waste of time", so when I wanted to play a couple of years ago he wouldn't let me. But recently I FINALLY wore him down enough and convinced him to let me play! :D We're going to have a game between just the two of us in a while, a game where he kind of guides me through it and we test it out to see if I like it.

*parties*

WELL THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY.

REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE ALL VERY VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL PICKLES AND HAVE A LOVELY REST OF YOUR DAY.

FAREWELL, DEAR COMRADES.

Namarië,
Ellie

  1. Awesome gifts! Happy belated birthday, by the way :) that Hobbit box is too cool, it seems like you have an amazing friend there. ;) I totally get you with the one doll item per "special occasion", if you will. Unless there's a wicked good deal on doll stuff my parents usually refuse to buy me anything of the sort, to be honest xD oh, and enjoy playing Dunegons and Dragons!

    1. Aw, thank you!! :)
      IKR, she's amazing.
Finally, someone who seems to be in the same straights as I am. :P It sucks, doesn't it? But at least they don't buy you random hideous outfits and you get to pick everything out yourself. *shrugs*
      I shall :).

  3. *helps you up from the cabbages*
The hobbit box and Thorin card look awesome. "Can I cut your cake for you miss?"
"I, THORIN SON OF THROR SON OF THRAIN SLICE THIS CAKE WITH MY ELVISH SWORD IN THE NAME OF ELLIE!"
*raises sword above head, brings down quickly, and delicately slices cake*
*ellie squeals a bit about her fictional husband cutting her birthday cake*

Yup. That is what happened. That is the story of the Thorin card.

I shall find I am malala and read it! Is it anything like the breadwinner? We read that last year in 7th grade.

I wish tolkienology was an actual science. I bet you could make a lot of money in that field.just think: "Ellie, head tolkienologist of the history of middle earth department discovers some cool new facts about elves."

    I just thought of something.
The wiked bow fairy and the sickly, sparkle barfing unicorn joined forces and went on a rampage! Nothing escaped their wrath.

What's dungeons and dragons? I've heard of it before. It's a kind of a fantasy role-playing game, Right?

I feel like a beet today. Not pickled! Oh no not pickled! Yuck! Just a normal, boiled beet. Mm-hm.

    Gwen who is a beet

    1. Thank you, dear. *dusts self off*
      IKR, Reagan's incredible. :)
YESH. Just add in tons of chocolates (he always gets me chocolates because he understands I don't like flowers, too Elvish and delicate. What do you do but look at them? And what fun is that? :P) and there it is!! :D It was quite amazing, really. *daydreamy sigh*
      GOOD FOR YOU. :D
I've never read this "Breadwinner", actually! I shall look it up.
Oh, yes, it should be. It should be a class.
Yup! You create a character and they go on quests to do heroic fantasy-like things while boosting their powers. At least I'm pretty sure that's the gist of it. You should ask Kathryn for info: I haven't really done it yet, and I know she plays it.
I've only once ever had a beet, and that was in a salad. They were big pieces that were mushy and too sweet. Perhaps that is the wrong preparation.

      - Ellie, who is not a beet at the moment but may become a beet in the future

  6. HAPPY LATE B-DAY! Again!!!!
    You're welcome. :)
I absolutely love the purple doll dress! And it looks so nice on Julie!
I'M JEALOUS OF HOW MANY BOOKS YOU GOT. I always want books but I never know which books to ask for so I never get any. And then probably 5 months after my birthday I find one I want but by then my parents make me but it for myself. The struggles of being indecisive.
Wait what's Dungeons and Dragons? I've heard of it but I've never actually seen it.

IKR though. It's so soft, and the shrug makes it so festive. And IKR!
      Poor Reagan :)
It's a fantasy role playing game where you create a character and send them on epic quests to do heroic deeds and gain powers. Or something like that. Hehe *sheepish grin*
