Songs I've Been Loving in May 2015

Let us begin :).

"Miss Jackson" by Panic! at the Disco

"Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark.
No one knows it's you, Miss Jackson.
Found another victim, but no one's gonna find Miss Jackson."

It was actually my best friend, in the comments section of the last Songs I've Been Loving post, who turned me onto this song. She mentioned it as a favorite of hers, I listened to it, and dang. Extremely catchy and unique lyrics - a must-listen.

I can't find a video to insert into the post (copyright has taken like all of them down), so listen here.

"On My Way Home" by Pentatonix

"How do the young survive?
We're never satisfied."

So I finally gave in and listened to all of PTX Vol. III. And man. It's literally one of the best albums I think I've ever heard, and this song is by far my favorite off it. The lyrics are stunning, and PTX kills the vocals, like they always do (*coughcoughespeciallymitchcoughcough*).

"The Phoenix" by Fall Out Boy

"So we'll take the world back from the heart-attacked,
One maniac at a time we will take it back.
You know time
Crawls
On
When you're waiting for the song to start,
So dance alone to the beat of your heart."

..........
So I discovered Fall Out Boy's album Save Rock and Roll.
.........
I'm officially obsessed.
I'm irrevocably in love with literally every single track on that album. This one is by far my favorite. It's catchy and causes that exciting kind of adrenaline you get sometimes from listening to action soundtracks, and the lyrics are incredible.

"I don't know where you're going,
But do you got room for one more
Troubled soul?"

This is another track off of Save Rock and Roll, and another of my favorites. It's kind of light and playful, in a way, while still retaining a mature seriousness and grown-up feeling. It's just the right balance between heavy and light music, if you know what I mean. Plus, Patrick's voice is so soulful. <3 I love it.

"My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" by Fall Out Boy

"A constellation of tears on your
Lashes
Burn everything you love, then burn the
Ashes."

So, I know you're all probably sick and tired of me squealing about Fall Out Boy BUT BEAR WITH ME THIS IS THE LAST ONE OKAY.
The melody is absolutely lovely in this one: it flows, and yet it's not slow or boring. Plus, Patrick kills it with his voice, and I love all the "whoa-os". <3

WELL THOSE ARE THE SONGS I'VE BEEN LOVING THIS MONTH.

COMMENT DOWN BELOW WITH WHAT SONGS YOU'VE BEEN LOVING.

AND I'LL SEE YOU NEXT TIME. :)

Ellie

  1. SAVE ROCK AND ROLL IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS EVER. The Mighty Fall is one of my favorites off of it. The bass line gets me every time.
Currently loving anything and everything from Linkin Park, Falling In Love (Will Kill You) by Wrongchilde & Gerard Way, Message Man by Twenty One Pilots, & Let's Kill Tonight by Panic! At the Disco. :)
Oh, and considering you like Miss Jackson, you should check out the rest of Panic!'s Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die album. It's amazing. =)

    1. IKR THOUGH. I LOVE that one, too! I like the bit where it goes "the mighty fall in love." It gives me shivers :).
      They sound so good!
I'll definitely have to! If it's anything like Miss Jackson, it'll be phenomenal and I'll spend the next few weeks of my life curled up under my covers with Veggie Stix listening to it. :)

    2. Gah, that part is amazing! Patrick's voice is just something else. <3
You will! I'm sure you'll love it. Nicotine is my overall favorite off of it. :)

    3. It definitely is :) The first time I heard him, I was like, "This guy is AMAZING." It was the first few seconds of Twin Skeletons, I think, the part where he sings "There's a room in a hotel in New York City" and that little bit. I swear it's like so pure and strong (his voice) and it sounds like it's soaring all the time and just lifts you up and......*sighs in the dreamy way of a fangirl*.
      I'd better stop squealing now.

    4. Twin Skeletons causes heart palpitations every single time for me. When they streamed all the songs off of AB/AP it was the one I had on repeat because I loved it so much. It still makes me shiver.
Ah, no don't stop squealing. I could talk about FOB forever. xD

It's a super awesome soundtrack! :) What's your favorite part? I like "Gollum's Song" and "The Prophecy".

    2. I love "The Breaking of the Fellowship", "Concerning Hobbits", and "The Gray Havens". My dad and I both like sad, beautiful songs, so Gollum's song is definitely one of our favorites. :)

    3. There are some amazingly beautiful songs on there <3 I like the one that's sung at the end of rotk, the one that goes "what do you see on the horizon". I think it's called Into the West, although I could be wrong.

  4. I definitely love "Alone Together" and "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark". My favorite Fall Out Boy song is the one they did for Big Hero 6, called "Immortals." Have you heard it? I've been wanting to listen to Pentatonxi. Need to get around to it. Love this post. Thanks for sharing:)

  6. None of these I have heard before, so I'm listening to all new things.
The miss Jackson one was definently my favorite, very bouncy. I never got through the pentatonix one because I didn't like the falsetto. The Fall Out Boy ones were the next best, for the same reasons as miss Jackson.

  7. Thanks, Ellie. I've been listening to Panic! At The Disco all morning. I DON'T NEED ANOTHER BANDOM M'KAY? xD
Miss Jackson reminds me of Paper Towns so much, replace 'Miss Jackson' with 'Margo Roth Spiegelman' and you're set. (it doesn't really fit, though...)
I love these posts, and there's no need to stop squealing over FOB, we all understand.

I've never heard this Paper Towns. Is it a song or movie? I know it's the name of a book.
      Thank 'ee :).

    2. Paper Towns is a brilliant John Green book that's being made into a film in July. I can't wait to watch it! I recommend the book, it's really good.
