My Opinions on AG's June 2015 Release!

Hey guys! Today American Girl released some new products, and I'll be sharing my initial thoughts on them! (I'll be including the stuff of Grace's that got released a few days ago, too.) (I won't be doing everything, since it was such a huge release, just stuff I have particular feels about.) So here. we. go.

The shirt is great. The skirt is great. The sandals are great. (Except for those weird cutesy bows.) But all together? Not so hot.

I don't understand why those boots are there. Like, the set already comes with shoes. What, is Grace supposed to be like: "Hey, I'm going to put on this outfit to go sightseeing, and then take off part of my outfit right away to put on some different stuff!" ? Like, is she supposed to put the boots on over the sandals? I am confused here. What the bloody hell is going on.

I think the boots should have been included with the outfit instead of the sandals (who wants to go tromping around sightseeing in sandals anyway? You'll get your toes all stepped on and jazz, and Patrick Stump has specifically warned against stuff like this.) and a few more things put with this set.

As for the shrug, I love the color, but the crocheting is ugly as heck.

And the sunglasses are okay. They look a little cheap and tacky, but the blue is a lovely shade.

My response to this is: Why don't you just go to the store and buy some hair accessories on the cheap? Plus, that bow made of hair looks pretty fake.

Now onto BeForever!

Too plastic-y. Too yellow. Too cheap-looking. Too few accessories. No thank you.

I actually think these are kind of adorable - in an "awwwww", not "OMG SOOO STYLISH!!!!" kind of way. The fabric/print I'm not too keen on, but overall I think it's pretty unique - how many onesies has AG put out before? - and kind of cute. Even if it doesn't turn out to be much of a success, I like that AG's trying something new.

OMG GUYS THIS IS SO AWESOME. Although I wish it came with more, the radio and book are super cool, and the flag is pretty cute. Plus, I love that AG is bringing out more accessory sets for the Historicals (Rebecca, Addy, and Josefina got ones, too.).

OMG GUYS I'M IN LOVE. It's so sweet and cuddly-looking, and the orange/yellow color they accented with is beautiful. <3

OMG GUYS GUYS GUYS I LOVE THE COLOR SCHEME ON THIS OMG GUYS GUYS GUYS.

Now, let's hop on over to Truly Me and bash some of the stuff there!

There is already a cheap, plastic hairstyle set for Grace. Why the hell do the TMs need their own? Can't Grace just realize that sharing is caring and lend them some of her stuff?

Everyone seems to hate this outfit, but I really like it. Even though I think the scarf could have been a little thicker, the dress is adorable, the leggings are versatile, and those shoes OMG I LOVE THOSE SHOES. It reminds me of something I would have worn as a kid. This outfit has earned an A from Ellie.

OH.
MY.
GOSH.
GUYS.
THIS IS TOO CUTE.
THIS IS JUST TOO CUTE.
(Even though some of the food doesn't look that realistic. (Since when do baby carrots look like small orange hockey pucks?) )
But that brownie though. That brownie has some srs yum going on.

I think this is a great set! Definitely a super cool piece to add to a doll school scene, and it's awesome that it actually functions as storage space. :)

GUYS.
OMG GUYS.
THIS HAPPENED.
I'M DEAD.

This is going on my wishlist as well. I love these kinds of hats, and this one is tooooo cute!! :)

I love boots, and these are no exception. The sweet purple color is so adorable, and I love how soft they look!

Even though I wish the sparkles were more colorful, I still think they're ultra cool and definitely love them.

Well, that's all for this release! Overall, I'm rather impressed with it, especially the Truly Me stuff. What were your favorite items? Least favorite? Comment below!

Ellie

  1. My ultimate favorite is the Frankenstein's Bride costume.
    Oh, are you suprised?
*skips off as you watch highly concerned*
Anyways, lovely review. I like the Recess Ready outfit too. And that Fedora is super cute.

    1. I love that dress (sooo stylish!)!
Thank you so much! And I agree - idk why no one else seems to like it.
      The fedora is goals.

  2. THEEEEEEEE FEDORAAAAAA! Yas!
My favorite is the basketball uniform. I'm buying it just for the shorts. I can not function properly without basketball shorts. (Pretty sure my dolls can't either.)

    1. I AGREEEEEE!
I really like that outfit too :) it looks a lot more high quality than some of the previous outfits, and a ton more realistic.

  3. Ohh yeah I agree with you on all this stuff.
Apparently that pink pokey plastic thingamabob is a ponytail helper.
Yep. Ponytails are sooo hard to do. *rolls eyes*
Also have you seen Julie's new bed I think the 70s has finally killed me.

    1. It looks like it would take longer to make work than waiting for Patrick to take off his fedora.
Ha, same. The color scheme is quite clashy. I definitely prefer her old one.

  4. You know a lot of this stuff is actually really cute. I mean put together it looks pretty bad but individually I actually like most of it. I mean obviously I love the historical stuff so much more but I'm actually more impressed with everything than I thought I'd be. I mean maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic but I wasn't that disappointed this time so I guess that's a pretty good thing.

  5. i absolutely adore the fedora--will definitely be buying it. the basketball set i think is great mainly because it's not some tacky looking color and the shoes are super realistic, but i probably won't buy it until i make a boy doll. anyways, i agree with most of what you said, and am overall very happy with the release. :)

  6. The fedora is literally the only thing that matters to me out of this whole release. Is there a way to paint hats black?! Because my goal in life is to have a fedora for the gals akin to Patrick's. xD
The Halloween outfit is something I want just for kicks. I'd love to use the wig in whatever wacky way I could, and the dress looks plain enough so that it'd work well for pictures.
A lot of people said the astrology set looks cheap/overpriced but I'm that odd one out who really likes it. Idk. It's cute. :3

    1. I think so. If people can paint slippery, plastic glasses frames, I'm sure it's possible to paint a more grippy and textured hat.
IKR, that dress is so cute.
Hmm. I love the telescope, I guess I just wish it came with some more pieces akin to its size. I do think it's extraordinarily cute, though. :)

    2. FABRIC MARKERS! THAT IS THE ANSWER!

I should get a Nobel peace prize for that.

I like the astronomy set as well. (If it was astrology, we would have gemenis and Sagittariuses running all over the place (let's throw in a crystal ball too, for divination lessons. Mars is bright tonight.))

And that is the difference between astronomy and astrology. I need a Nobel peace prize for that too, but I will settle for chocolate cake with mocha frosting.

    3. WAIT WAIT WAIT.
      MARS IS BRIGHT TONIGHT.
IS THAT A HARRY POTTER REFERENCE?
      I THINK THAT'S A HARRY POTTER REFERENCE.
I'LL BE SO PROUD OF MYSELF IF IT TURNS OUT I ACTUALLY UNDERSTOOD THAT AND IT WAS A HARRY POTTER REFERENCE.
      *ahem*
I have never had this mocha frosting. It sounds good.

  7. "Can't Grace just realize that sharing is caring and lend them some of her stuff?" DON'T MIND ME I'LL JUST BE DYING OVER HERE, YEP.
I basically agree with you. Grace's Sightseeing Outfit, oh my gosh. I told you they'd do boots over other shoes. Ridiculous.
The fedora and grey shoes are my favourite things, I love them so much.

IKR. Why the heck even include the sandals when they're not even functional with the whole set together?
      Ikr though. Fedora power, man.

    2. Long long ago in a galaxy far far away, people did put rain boots on over their normal shoes. They were called galoshes or "overshoes".
We'll just call Grace's thingies galoshes and pretend it was intentional. AG should thank us for putting up with their shenanigans.

Now I'm just intruding on all your comments because I'm bored.

    3. They were on over your shoes????? That does sound convenient, though rather uncomfortable.
      They should :).
