Songs I've Been Loving in September 2015

"You're Crashing, but You're No Wave" by Fall Out Boy

"And everyone's looking for relief,
United States vs. disbelief."

So my best friend recommended this to me on a SIBL post a few months back, and I listened to it then and wasn't that impressed. However, this month I decided to come back to it, and CAN I SAY.

THAT THIS.

IS.

AWESOME.

I love the melody and how it's heart-pumpingly fast at some parts and chill and moody at others. The beat is amazing, and Patrick's voice slays, as usual.

"This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" by Fall Out Boy

"I'm not a shoulder to cry on - but I digress."

So everyone seems to like this song and I was like "okay I'll listen to this song" and then I listened to this song and DAMN.

Can we just talk about the bridge for a minute?

'Cause that guitar seriously kills me.

And the verses. Those are good too.

Overall, extraordinary, amazing, and perfect. 5/5 goats.

"Golden" by Fall Out Boy

"And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raise their babies
To stay away from me."

This is one of those FOB songs I really think is underrated.

The melody is incredibly gorgeous and haunting, and the piano is beautiful. An absolute must-listen. <3

"Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" by Set it Off

"Karma's gonna come collect your debt."

So I was casually listening to my FOB iTunes radio (as I do), and this song came on.

Holy.

Crap.

I don't know who the singer of Set it Off is, but goddamn he can sing. The beat and the fact that this song is in minor both kill me, and I love the lyrics. Whoever wrote this song is majorly talented, too.

"Helena (So Long and Goodnight)" by My Chemical Romance

"What's the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay.
So long and goodnight,
So long and goodnight."

The story with this is kinda like the story with "You're Crashing".

I've heard this time and time again on my FOB iTunes radio, but it never really struck me until about a week ago. For some reason, it just really stood out that time, and I thought "Hmm, maybe this would be worth a thorough listen." And whaddaya know, it totally was.

This is just such an incredibly beautiful song. The chorus gets me every time (and in fact was what prompted me to want to listen to it more in the first place), and Gerard's voice is so soulful. I love it <3

Well, that's all for today! What songs have you been loving this month? Comment below :)

    7. OH MY GOD PARTNER IN CRIME JUST CAME ON I LOVE THAT ONE.
It's the only SIO song I'd ever listened to before WISC and I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
(Idk why I didn't listen to more of them after hearing it.)

    8. Idk why but it's somehow reminding me of Luther and whatever his girlfriend's name was (the vampires) from that one episode towards the end of Supernatural season one. I guess it's the "death will do us part" bit bc vampires mate for life and they were really in love with each other. And they were also kinda "partners in crime" since they killed/tortured people and drank their blood together.
Goddamn now I want to do a lyric post about them.

  3. Maddie introduced me to Set It Off aND AREN'T THEY PERFECTION. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead is my fave song of theirs (N.M.E right behind that). I love the unique twists they add to their songs. They're just wonderful. ^-^
I totally get you on the whole,"heard it one time, wasn't impressed, then went back to listen to it and HOLY CRAP" thing. My first impression of Twenty One Pilots was kind of "eh" but I've basically sold my soul to them now. xD
I've been listening to a lot of Bring Me the Horizon stuff, since That's The Spirit came out. And my children Linkin Park, as usual. ;p xD

      That one's really good.
Good there's someone else who understands :). I've never really listened to TOP, but my friend's obsessed with them and I always hear everyone on here raving about them so I might have to give them a listen.
      Sounds awesome :)
Gosh Adi I love your comments. They're always so sweet and conversational <3

    2. If you do listen to TOP, I recommend listening to Blurryface first, and working backward to their older stuff. Gives more meaning to their old songs, I think, when you get to them. :)
Aww thanks. :3 I always worry about if my comments are stupid or not-- that's one of the main reasons why I don't leave many nowadays. :3

    3. Okay, sounds good. I'll use that approach.
They're most definitely not - they've never been. You should leave more, they're awesome. :)

  4. Wow okay golden is really good. I'm not in love with it yet but I feel like if I listen to it a few more times I'll become obsessed with it. That's how I am with most music though. I haven't actually listened to much new music this month. I've been trying to find new songs/bands/artists to listen to but I haven't really found any yet. Which basically means I've been listening to nothing but Disney and old songs that I haven't listened to in a while. Every now and then I get bored with my music so I have to stop listening to it for a while so that I can come back to it and REALLY love it again. So that's pretty much what I've been doing this month.

Ugh I hate when that happens. Then I get stuck in this rut of listening to the same old music and then I get sick of that music and ugh.
Here is something for you to try, then: Set it Off. I have listened to their work and can confirm as Adi and Maddie say that they are very good. I think you would like them.

  5. *LOUD SCREECH* YOU'RE CRASHING IS LEGIT ONE OF MY FAVORITE FOB SONGS HOLY SMOKES. This Ain't A Scene is pretty sweet too.

I don't know, for some reason Golden is one of those songs that I always skip when it comes on because it makes me sad. It's okay, but it's not my favorite on the album.

I'll have to check out those other songs listed! Thanks for sharing :D

Yeah, I get it. I do that whenever "Wide Open Spaces" or "Never Grow Up" (by the Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift, respectively) come on. Songs about growing up and leaving childhood behind always make me bawl.
      You definitely should!

  6. YES YOU MUST LISTEN TO TWENTY ONE PILOTS DO IT FROM BLURRYFACE BACKWARDS AS ADI SAID. (also All Time Low and Halsey you might like. I am going to get you to listen to ATL if it's the last thing I do xD)
Set It Off... I don't know if I like them or not, Wolf In Sheep's Clothing and N.M.E are the best but I'm not sure about the rest of Duality.

    1. DONT WORRY LOVE I ALREADY LIKR ATL. I mean I haven't really explored their music yet, but I've heard some amazing songs by them (Dear Maria, Count me In, Somewhere in Neverland, and A LOVE LIKE WAR (which is one of my all time favorite songs). I'll have to dive into them more once I finish exploring SIO.

    2. YAS ELLIE.
A LOVE LIKE WAR IS MY FAVOURITE SONG IT IS BRILLIANT. Also the karaoke version of Dear Maria they did a couple of months ago is probably the best version. Zack's harmonies kill me every time.

      Delete
    3. IKR IT TOTALLY IS.
Ooh, I'll have to listen to that! Do you know where to find it?

    4. If you search "dear maria karaoke" then it should be the first one to come up, the one by New York Magazine.
