Songs I've Been Loving in October 2015

HOWWWW IS IT THE END OF OCTOBER ALREADY WHAT THE HECK.

But anyways, here are the songs I've been loving this month. :) Enjoy.

"Casual Affair" by Panic! at the Disco

"A lover on the left,
A sinner on the right."

If I could pick just one song to describe my music taste, it would be this.

This may come as a bit of a surprise, but my favorite style of music is not pop-punk, nor pop, nor punk, nor jazz, nor anything else. It is in fact whatever this is - I guess a semi-sultry, electronic, slightly auto-tuned thing? However you'd describe it, I absolutely love it. This song is my new jam.

(Selena Gomez's whole album Stars Dance basically describes this too. I haven't listened to Revival yet, but you can bet I will soon. I actually really like her music.)

"Kill the Lights" by Set it Off

"So we all stand enthralled
By this bland curtain call
And the truth we pursue
As we all -
We all beg you to
Kill the lights,
Kill the actor,
Kill the actress!"

This is by far my favorite song off Cinematics (which I listened to at the wise Maddie's prodding). Cody Carson has the voice of a freaking angel, and I absolutely adore the last 40-30 seconds or so. The triplets in the build-up to the chorus give me shivers, and the whole thing is super fun to listen to. 5/5 stars.

SO THEN PTX'S NEW ALBUM CAME OUT AND AND.

GUYS I LITERALLY CANNOT EXPLAIN TO YOU HOW AMAZING IT IS.

I really love most of the whole thing, but I decided to limit it to three of my favorites so as not to swamp you in PTX. xD

So here we go.

"Cracked"

"Your halo's gone,
And all I see is horns,
And a heart that's still intact -
But mine's cracked!"

My favorite song off the album.

Hands. Down.

The strong beat and "woah-oh-ohs" had me hooked when I listened to the iTunes preview, and when I heard the full thing the switch between slow and soft and upbeat and fast assured "Cracked"'s place as my number 1 fave off the album. If you only listen to one song from the album, listen to this. PLEASE.

"Sing"

"I don't know what you've been told
But music make you lose control."

Although the video's not my favorite*, I really do like the song. This was one I wasn't too fond of at first, but as I listened to it more and more I gradually came to love it. I adore how it's not a love song and it has a really empowering message for young singers and musicians trying to chase their dream. PLUS THAT BEAT YO.

"Rose Gold"

"If it's true that legends never die,
Me and you could stand the test of time.
We could be timeless,
We could be classic,
We could be stars, we could be rose gold.
Rose gold."

Pentatonix released this album to show that they can write songs, and to me this song in particular cements the fact that they can. The melody is gorgeous and so so soothing, and the lyrics incredibly beautiful - some of my favorites off the album.

WELL THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY.

What songs have you been loving this month? Comment below :)

AND PLANT A TREE.

AND HUG A DWARF.

AND REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE ALL VERY BEAUTIFUL PICKLES.

*mounts Gwaihir and flies off into the sunset*

Namarië,
Ellie

*On a semi-unrelated side note I feel like mentioning for no real reason, I find the case with most PTX videos is that I either love them or hate them. Problem, La La Latch, Rather Be, and Mary, Did You Know? (ESPECIALLY MDYK) are all ones I really loved, but Papaoutai, Can't Sleep Love, and Sing (ESPECIALLY CAN'T SLEEP LOVE) I all thought really weird and like they kinda detracted from the song. Idk.

  1. Wow I haven't heard a lot of these songs I'll have to go listen to them.
I've been listening to "Holding On To You" by tøp, "Flaws" by Bastille, and soooo much Disney music. Because the lion king and Pocahontas have really good soundtracks you know?

  2. Ok! All gold stars for pentatonix, so it seems that my taste has improved since last time.
And I want the first one to have an acoustic version, because I'm curious to hear how it would be if the auto-tuney bits were some over with, idk, violins or something.
This month had very bouncy music. I like all of these. Very much.

    1. It has. This is very good. We are making progress, Gwynefar.
Ooh! That'd be cool. Kevin (the beatboxer) also rocks the cello so that could possibly be a thing.
      Yay!!!

    2. Oh wait the first overall song not the first ptx song??? Cause if so scratch the Kevin bit. I don't know of any member of Panic! whose name is Kevin and who plays cello.

Gwynefar! It's been a long time since that was used. from the early days of my bloggy adventure. Which makes me wonder what I should to for my blogoversary in November. probably ACTUALLY posting would be a nice event.

    4. Ah, I see.
Ooh!! When IS your blogaversary?? I MUST KNOW!
For my 1 year I'm planning on doing a brief and slightly soppy post talking about how blogging has changed my life (it really has) and thanking the giant list of people I've met and made friends with through Blogger (you're at the top of that list). Maybe do a look back through your/Andy's/Rylan's/Lily's favorite posts, or pick some photos from throughout the past year to showcase how your photography has changed? Do a digital art summary of the blogging year, like starting high school, getting Rylan, etc.?

hmmm. how has it changed my life. Having friends is nice, when irl friends are hard. Ive learned more about writing (ish) people on here usually make me feel pretty good about myself....
Yay! I like being important! Im still really pleased that the first few comments were screenshotted.
Those are good ideas. Thank you.

    6. Putting it on the calendar.
That's very good. For me, it's helped me become more social and happy irl because I've learned how to socialize and be comfortable with myself.
You're very important. (But same though.) Yeah, I don't know what I would do if I hadn't screanshotted them. Probably banged my head against a wall repeatedly.
      Welcome, love. :)
