Songs I've Been Loving in November 2015

"Get Down on Your Knees and Tell Me You Love Me" by All Time Low

We checked in,
Checked out,
Checkmate.

While listening to my ATL playlist on Spotify, this started playing as one of the "suggested tracks", and I instantly fell in love. I love the guitar and fast pace, and the melody is absolutely superb. I can't count how many times I pranced around my room listening to this song pretending to shoot demons with Sam and Dean. xD

"Same Old Love" by Selena Gomez

I know I've heard it all before
At least a million times
I'm not one to forget, you know.

SO I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO LISTENING TO REVIVAL AND ASDFGHJKL I JUST. Selena's voice is beautiful, as always, and I love the more acoustic-y/electronic (is that a thing), and raw vibe of the whole album, with a little less production and editing than Stars Dance (although Stars Dance is still my favorite album of hers tbh). Anyways, this song has to be my favorite off the new album. The intro just kills me - I adore the semi-jazzy thing. And her voice is beautiful, as always.

"Misery" by Green Day

They found him in a Cadillac
Butchered with a baseball bat
In the name of misery.

So Gwen and I were talking in the comments section one day and Green Day gets brought up, can't remember how (it wasn't the ROCF post where I mentioned liking them, it was before), and I'm trying to remember the title of this one song by them, and so we start bouncing Green Day song titles and melodies off each other and one she brings up is "Misery". Thinking it could be the mysterious and elusive song, I looked it up on Spotify, and, despite it not being the tune I was searching for, it was SO. GOOD. I love the minor and semi eerie (ish?) feel to it, and it became the board for my dive into liking Green Day.

"Na Na Na [Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na]" by My Chemical Romance

The future is B U L L E T P R O O F.
The aftermath is secondary.
It's time to do it now and do it loud -
Killjoys, make some noise!

As some of you know, I've been a fan of The Black Parade for a while now, and a week or so ago I finally got around to listening to some of MCR's other music. For whatever random reason, I started with Danger Days, and this has to be my favorite song off the album. I adore the intro, and the Na Na Na's just kill me.

"Maya the Psychic" by Gerard Way

Voices hearing you loud
We're taking the sound
Back with us

I tried listening to Hesitant Alien way back when I first started liking MCR, but the sound just didn't resonate with me and I didn't get into it. However, recently, I decided to give it another try, and boy am I glad I did. For some reason, this time the whole album just clicked with me, and this track definitely stood out as my favorite.

Well, that's all for today! What songs have you been loving this month? Oh, and I may not be on that much in the next couple days, so happy Thanksgiving to y'all. <3

Namarië,
Ellie

  1. Selena is queen, like literally her voice is perfection! I feel you on the MCR thing, I'm so attached to the Black Parade but I'm slowly starting to come out of my shell. Na Na Na (insert 10000 other Na's) is such an amazing song too! I love the upbeat vibe of it :)

  2. Misery! I first heard this on my family's road trip to California a few years ago, since we bought several older Green Day CDs (warning, nimrod, insomniac, and kerplunk). I like it a lot, but my brother didn't. (This is only somewhat relevant. Cries of "skip it!" "Nonono- don't skip it!" Could be heard from the back seat of the car.)
Anyway, it seems to have in the same style as ¿viva la Gloria?(little girl)* but I don't have a word for that. You could probably help with this predicament.

*which is different from ¡viva la Gloria! Confusing.

I recently expanded from the black parade, too. I've been liking the slower songs of danger days. Summertime, save yourself, I'll hold the back, the kids from yesterday.

I like maya the psychic, but it seems a little muddy. That might just be video quality.

    1. Your brother has no taste.
I have not heard this viva la Gloria, so I am afraid I cannot help.
Good, I'm g;ad it's you and Noor too and I'm not the only one who mainly just liked the Black Parade up until recently. THE KIDS FROM YESTERDAY IS REALLY GOOD.
Maybe a little, but I think that's just the style of his solo music.
