Songs I've Been Loving in January 2016

Whoa! I can't believe it's time to do the January edition of this series already. The month flew by way too fast, what with finally finishing a couple of my books, writing a ton, starting my second semester of high school - and listening to some pretty great music. ;) Without further ado, let us begin.

"Adelaide" by Meg Myers

I should pray for Adelaide,
But she wouldn't win this fight.
Black and blue, dear Adelaide,
So many scars to hide.

I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP LISTENING TO THIS SONG SINCE CHRISTMAS GUYS.

Meg's voice is absolutely beautiful and really powerful, and I just love the lyrics and melody of the verses. 8/5 dwarfs, very nice, 160% positive rating.

"Boomerang" by Walk off the Earth

It's time that I let you go,
I'm not your boomerang.

WOTE is an indie and reggae rock group I've just discovered a couple weeks ago, and I love their music. It's very upbeat, and they have extremely powerful voices - have you heard their cover of Hello? This song has to be one of my favorites - very peppy and bouncy, easy to dance around my room too, and very wonderful lyrics. <3

"Rule the World" by Walk off the Earth

They say no way-oh,
I say I rule the world.

Another one of my favorites from WOTE <3 I love the lyrics, and the cHORUS GUYS SARAH'S VOICE MY HEART.

"New Americana" by Halsey

Cigarettes and tiny liquor bottles,
Just what you'd expect inside her new Valenciaga.

So, um. I may have discovered yet another new artist to obsess over?

Oops.

I've been hearing about Halsey from a tone of different bloggers for a while, and eventually I was just like, "Well, might as well see what all the fuss is about."

Wow.

I love her voice, and her sound really resonates with me. This was the first song of hers I listened to, and I really love the melody and lyrics.

"Crazy = Genius" by Panic! at the Disco

She said, "You're just like Mike Love,
But you'll never be Bryan Wilson."

And what would a January music roundup be without a little DOAB? ;)

This has to be my favorite new song off the album. It's so upbeat, crazy, and fun, and definitely like nothing I've ever heard before.

Well, that's all for today! What songs have you been loving this month? Comment below :)

Ellie

  3. Halsey is wonderful, isn't she? She's also such a sweet person, and she stands for so much. I adore her and Badlands. ^-^
CRAZY = GENUIS = YES. IT'S SO GOOD. Although, to be fair, the entirety of DOAB is good. It has quickly become my favorite Panic! album.
I found a few new bands this month that I'm really enjoying right now. My dad has a co-worker who is currently hosting an exchange student (from Ukraine, I believe) and a while back she visited and we talked music a bit. She mentioned Thirty Seconds to Mars, and I knew of them because they toured with Linkin Park a few years back, but I didn't actually listen to their music. Anyways, I finally got around to listening to them and they're amazing. I've really been enjoying their albums. ^-^ (that whole story was probably totally boring. sorry xD)

I'll have to listen to the Walk Off the Earth songs later. They sound brilliant. :)

    1. Yeah, I'm really liking DOAB too. The sound really gels with me, for some reason. Vices & Virtues still has to be my favorite, though. xD
Ah, no! It was fine :) I always like hearing about other bloggers' lives, idk not a lot of personal story-sharing goes on around here and so it's nice when it does. I may have to check them out!

    1. Thank you! :) Yeah, I can't really do hw, read, or write when listening to music (unless they're purely instrumental) because I get too distracted.
