Songs I've Been Loving in February 2016

Hey, young bloods!

It's that time of the month where I share what I've been -

Actually, I'm horrible at intros. (I spent about twenty minutes formulating variations of the above sentence, no joke.) So let's cut right to the songs, shall we?

"Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots.

My name is blurryface, and I care what you think.

Okay, real talk here.

I'd tried listening to this song multiple times after hearing all the buzz about it, but I just couldn't get into it. The sound didn't gel with me, for some reason. However, recently in Acting class we did a lip-syncing project, and this awesome girl named Mollie did her lip-sync to this song. Listening to the whole song while I watched her perform,  I fell in love. Since then, I HAVE NOT been able to stop listening to it.

"Choctaw County Affair" by Carrie Underwood

There's no body, there's no witness,
So y'all go mind your business.
It's a Choctaw County affair.

This is another song I discovered through the lip-syncing project. Another girl did a stellar job to this song, and when I got home I immediately looked it up. I'll admit, Carrie isn't the type of artist I would usually listen to, but I really love this song and might listen to more of her stuff in the future.

"For Baltimore (Acoustic)" by All Time Low

Just do it for the memories,
And do it for Baltimore.

I'd tried listening to the regular version of this a long time ago, and honestly I didn't like it all that much. But I recently discovered the acoustic version, and it's absolutely beautiful.

"Paint You Wings" by All Time Low

I painted a picture of the things I wanted most,
To color in the darker side of all my brightest hopes.
But there's a monster standing where you should be,
So I'll paint you wings
And I'll set you free.

DUUUUDE THAT INTRO THAT'S MY NEW JAMMM. I just love the melody in this song, and it's quite upbeat and danceable - perfect for prancing around my room, pretending I can do contemporary ballet (even though I definitely can't xD).

"House of Memories" by Panic! at the Disco

And when your fantasies
Become your legacy
Promise me a place
In your house of memories.

GUYS THIS SONG.

It has to be one of my very favorites off Death of a Bachelor, outranked only by "Hallelujah". I absolutely love the lyrics, and it actually really reminds me of one of my contemporary WIPs. In addition to being great to listen to in an everyday situation, it's also awesome for when I'm formulating ideas for that story. :)

Well, that's all for today! What have you been listening to this month? Comment below, I always love discovering new music.

Namarië,
Ellie

    1. *FLAILS WILDLY* OMG I THOUGHT I WAS LEGITIMATELY THE ONLY BLOGGER WHO DIDN'T LIKE TØP HALLELUJAH. Other than this one, House of Gold, and Kitchen Sink, I don't really like a lot of their music. Idk why, the lyrics are beautiful and extremely powerful, I guess the sound just doesn't really gel with me.

I KNOW RIGHT IT'S SO GOOD! Off Don't Panic! I also really love The Reckless and the Brave (my fave), A Love Like War, and Oh, Calamity! One song off they album that everyone seems to love but I've never been able to get into is If These Sheets Were States. IDK WHY I WANT TO LIKE IT SO BAD BUT I JUST CAN'T???

I'll have to check them out!

  8. TWENTY ONE PILOTS IS LIFE. Admittedly, I listened to them and just couldn't get into it at first, but then a month or so later, their music was EXACTLY what I needed, and I love it to pieces now.

Basically my day-to-day soundtrack for life is anything and everything by the not-too-well-known band 'Icon For Hire'. They're an... alternative rock, I think, and they're so gooooood.

  9. All Time Low has been my recent music obsession lately. I can't really get into all of their songs, but the few that I like have been played on repeat. They are amazing!
This sounds weird considering the fact that I am Twenty One Pilots trash now, but I actually didn't like their music that much. I heard Stressed Out and it took me a while to really like it.. Though once I got used to it I kinda fell in love.
ASDFGHJKL just DOAB. That album is so perfect, I can't express how much I love it. House of memories is so good. Ugh. Perfection.

    1. IKR! Yeah, I was like that for a while - I only liked like three of their songs until recently.
*SCREECH* YES YES YES. I think it's one of my favorite albums from Panic! (second only to V&V)
