Friendly Reminder About Terrorism

Hey guys.

In light of the recent developments in Belgium (and kind of recent developments in France), I would like to put up a quick little reminder to be extra conscious of any Muslims that you know or are in your community. 99% of Muslims don't support radical Islamic terrorism, and so while you keep in your thoughts and prayers the victims of the attacks and their families, please also keep in your thoughts the many peaceful Muslims throughout the world who may be victims of increasingly violent Islamophobia right now. Thank you <3

Namarië,
Ellie

  1. Thank you for this reminder! I think that while it's very important to think of victims and their families, its important to remember that Muslims are victims to, victims of awful stereotyping that come out of these tragic events ♥

  3. Agreed, Ellie. <3 We can't completely ignore the fact that.. today, it is, unfortunately, Islam that the majority of terrorists are committing these acts in the name of, but that doesn't make Islam, or Muslims, evil. Not at all.. Every religion, every thing, has the opportunity to produce "radicals" and folks who take it too far (or who don't even follow the religion and just tarnish the name).

Islam isn't unique in this way, and I wish that every time things like this occur, people wouldn't.. you know. Blame the entire population, religion, etc.

Hope this didn't come off as offensive. Not my intention, of course. Heartfelt thoughts to those in Brussels and everywhere else. <3

    1. Ah, no - you didn't come off as offensive to me at all. And yes, it is true - every religion has terrorists across the globe tarnishing/acting in its name, Islam just happens to be the most prominent right now.

  5. i hate it, the islamicphobia. my best friend is a Muslim and people have jokingly called her a terrorist and other bs and i'm tired of hearing about it. {there is that post i had, the one about vince. he offended her so much. she used to like vince until he did that crap.} anyway i hate it.

thank you for posting this, i may do the same.

    1. That's just sickening. From what I've heard on your blog, Patool sounds ultra sweet, and the idea of that stuff happening to her and people like her repulses me so fucking much.

  6. I so agree, A religion is just something someone believes in and it doesn't mean they're bad or "terrorists". The stereotype is so horrible

  7. I wholeheartedly agree with this. I think it's awful that Muslims get lumped into the "radical extremist" group as a whole. And I don't even understand how people logically can think that. I wish people thought more before blaming an entire religion for the acts of a few people. :(
