Current TBR Pile #3

1984 by George Orwell

Ever since my best friend read this several years ago, I've been meaning to get to it. IT WILL HAPPEN SOON NOW OKAY?? I SWEAR.

Angelfall by Susan Ee

After seeing Beth's glorious review of this series, I was super intrigued and HAD to add it to the pile. Usually I'm wary of dystopian, but this seems to have a big dose of fantasy mixed in, so I may end up liking it more than I initially think.

Paper Crowns by Mirriam Neal

I was introduced to this book via Erudessa's blog, and it looks just like my kind of read: high fantasy with lots of whimsy mixed in.

In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick

If you've read this blog for any length of time, you've probably heard me squeal about Nathaniel Philbrick's books way too much. BUT THEY'RE SO GOOD AND THIS ONE IS ABOUT THE ESSEX AND I JUST.

Blood Canticle by Anne Rice

IT'S THE SECOND-TO-LAST BOOK IN WHAT HAS QUICKLY BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES AND I WANT TO CRY.

Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan

WAY TO LEAVE US ON A CLIFFHANGER AT THE END OF THE LAST BOOK RJ NOT COOL. Seriously, if Lan is anxious you'd better be anxious too. And the ending of the last book was majorly confusing??? Like did all the Chosen just randomly decide to leave without the reader being alerted or??? I'm hoping the beginning of this next book will clarify things.

---

Let's chat! Have you read any of these books? What's on your TBR list? ARE YOU REACHING THE END OF ANY OF YOUR FAVORITE SERIES? (We will cry together.) Comment below, and remember that you are all very beautiful pickles. <3

  2. I feel like I haven't commented in forever (school is lowkey consuming me). I hope you're doing well!!
    ^-^
I've seen angelfall so many times but never really looked to see what it's about??? I must do that soon.
The last 5th Wave book comes out Tuesday and I am 110% not ready for it + scared to death that my babies are all going to die. It's one of the series that like //really// got me back into avidly reading a few years back so the fact that it's ending rips my heart out.
Anywho-- lovely post, Ellie! I always like your bookish stuff. :)

    1. Yo it's okay; school and preparations for Guatemala are eating me alive too. THERE ARE TOO MANY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ME TO HANDLE AT ONCE ADI HELP.
It's like. Angels cause the apocalypse, then an angel has to team up with a human to help save her little sister or something. I think. I think it's the sort of thing you would like, actually.
YOU'LL GET THROUGH IT DON'T WORRY. Would you recommend the 5th Wave series? The movie looked ultra lame, but maybe I would like the books better idk.
      Thank you, babe! <3

    2. I FEEL YOU I FEEL YOU. i'm trying to get things done early so that there's less at the very end next week but wow am i stressing.
oooh, that sounds very good! i'd probably love it.
THANKS. I'M SURE YOU'LL DO FANTASTIC AS WELL.
i totally would! i didn't see the movie just because from the trailers it looked like it did a crap job at representing the books. the series itself is really good tho. very apocalypse like but there's a lot of deep meaning/thought provoking things slipped in??? i adore it. ^-^

    3. Finals for me are the end of this week; I just started studying today and there's so much information?? Especially in biology like agh.
      AW THANKS BABE.
Okay! I might have to try it. The concept did look original, it's just the straight white love story bit that made me decide not to see it.

  5. umm, I want to read 1984 by George Orwell. However, it will take a while for me to do that!

Legend by Marie Lu, We Need New Names by Noviolet Bulawayo and many more are on my TBR list. I want to branch out from contemporary fiction and perhaps try Fantasy for a change.

    1. SAME SAME MY TBR PILE IS TOO HUGE FOR ME.
Fantasy is excellent! You might like Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. It's not super heavy high fantasy, so it may be an easy transition from contemporary. Or you could ask people if they recommend the Maggie Stiefvater or Sarah J. Maas books - I haven't read those, but I hear they're good.

  7. Ohh I really, really liked Angelfall! It was a surprise read for me too because I didn't think I would like it, but I devoured the book so fast! I hope you like it!

I have heard so many things about the series of The Wheel of Time, I really need to start this series, because I LOVE fantasy and sci fi and all things not reality right now!

    Awesome post.
