My Favorite Bookish Ships

5. Cyrano and Roxanne - Cyrano de Bergerac

CYRANO IS SUCH A SWEET PINING BEAN. And I don't understand why people don't like Roxanne? She experiences such character development? And they're the actual cutest together? HOW NOT TO SHIP.

4. Benedick and Beatrice - Much Ado About Nothing

THESE TWO ARE THE SNARKIEST THING ON TWO WHEELS. They go from hating each other to being madly in love (and, let's face it, those are some of the best kinds of ships).

3. Carrot and Angua - Discworld

EXCUSE ME WHILE I FLAIL FOREVER.

Carrot Ironfoundersson and Angua von Uberwald are two officers in the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, and they're extraordinarily adorable. Carrot is an amiable and friendly human, raised by dwarves, and Angua is a snarky af werewolf. They work around a lot of problems to get their relationship to flourish, and they're the most amazingly kickass crime-fighting team ever.

2. Lan and Nynaeve - The Wheel of Time

I dare you to find me two more adorable pining idiots on the face of this planet. One of them is always trying to hit on the other, and then the other is always like "no out of a sense of duty I must not fall in love with this person". And who's doing what switches every two chapters and I just gahhhh. THOSE TWO SWEET IDIOTS.

Eventually they got their crap together enough to get married, at which point I promptly stopped reading the Wheel of Time because, to be honest, they were the only reason I continued past book one in the first place.

1. Erestor and Glorfindel - The Lord of the Rings

If you don't know who these two are are why they're the OTP, I clearly have not done a good enough job of Educating the Public.

These two aren't canon, so there are many different interpretations of their relationship. My favorite happens to be:

Glorfindel: An Elf from the First Age who lived in Gondolin. He fought a Balrog, died, and was reincarnated in Rivendell to be an advisor to Elrond during the time of the Lord of the Rings. Upon arriving in Rivendell, a super adorable advisor catches his attention, and he unsuccessfully and awkwardly attempts wooing said advisor, who happens to be

Erestor: An Elf from the First Age to live in Gondolin. He pined after the Lord Glorfindel for quite a while before finally working up the courage to confess his feelings, at which point said Lord Glorfindel promptly laughed in his face and skipped off to cavort with Ecthelion. Erestor survived the Fall of Gondolin and ends up in Rivendell many centuries later, serving as an advisor to Elrond when a freshly-reincarnated Glorfindel arrives on the scene. Of course, Erestor's still desperately in love, but he refuses to engage in romantic behavior with the Elf who broke his heart so long ago.

And it turns out Glorfindel has amnesia and doesn't remember Erestor until Erestor finally tells him (he feels horrible for ever having rejected Erestor in the first place), and finally they both get their crap together and marry and live happily ever after with ten million puppies and their own cottage. And if you don't ship them after this post, I honestly don't know what to do with you.

So, let's chat! What are your ships? Do you share any of mine? LET US DISCUSS SQUEAL TOGETHER. Comment below, and remember that you are all very beautiful pickles. <3

  1. I love Augustus and Hazel from The Fault in Our Stars. I totally ship them. Well, before *****SPOILER******* Gus dies. That sucked... but maybe she'll find someone else...

  3. I know it's awful, but I haven't read any of these books before! But my favourite bookish ship would probably be Simon and Baz from Carry On ♥
Also, I tagged you in the Harry Potter Tag if you'd like to participate! The questions are on my blog :)
