Current TBR Pile #13

Been Here All Along by Sandy Hall

THIS. LOOKS. LIKE. THE. CUTEST. THING.

*AGGRESSIVELY HOARDS LE GAY FLUFF*

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Although I'm usually not a fan of contemporaries (unless gay (because gay)), the writing in this novel looks absolutely beautiful. Plus, it seems to focus on the struggles of illegal immigrants, which is a cause I'm very passionate about.

Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven

WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY CONTEMPORARY ROMANCES IN THIS POST. WHY.

I SWEAR I'M USUALLY NOT LIKE THIS.

THEY JUST ALL LOOK SO GOOD.

The Arctic Incident by Eoin Colfer

I spontaneously read Artemis Fowl about a week ago, and I've fallen in love with the series. I can't wait to get my hands on this installment!

The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker

This kind of has a Bartimaeus Sequence vibe to me? Idk why?

But anything Stroud-like I'm bound to love, so on the pile it goes.

The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich

LEMME JUST EXPLAIN THIS BOOK TO YOU OKAY.

There are these people who go to a secret spy academy, and as part of their training they need to learn to be Love Interests (because getting close to people in that way means getting valuable secrets). Two guys are pitted against each other to see who will get a girl to fall in love with him first - and whomever she doesn't choose will die - BUT THEN THEY FALL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER ALONG THE WAY.

*FLAILING*

I didn't even bother reading a preview for this one tbh. I just slapped it on the top of the pile.

Let's chat! Have you read any of these books? What did you think? What books are on your TBR pile? Comment below, and have an amazing day.

  1. ARTEMIS FOWL IS MY BEAUTIFUL IRISH SMART-MUFFIN GAHH.

    Okay, fangirl over. I promise.

These actually look really good! I myself tend to avoid most contemporaries too (fantasy all the way), but a lot of these seem really interesting.

  2. Oh- The Sun is Also a Star. I've been wanting to read that. I wasn't a huge fan of Everything Everything though, but it was a quick read so I figured might as well just go for this one too. Holding Up the Universe is a pleasant read- I would say it's pretty enjoyable overall. Not nearly as good (or intense) as All the Bight Places though. Nice TBR :)

    1. I passed on Everything Everything because it just seemed really unrealistic to me? Idk.

      Thank you!

  3. Excuse me while I flail about The Love Interest. It sounds awesome.
I've read The Golem and the Jinni. It's fantastic. Also, the Golem reads asexual to me (flails excitedly again), so go representation. I've loved Eoin Colfer since I was small, so I'm *totally* unbiased when I say that Artemis Fowl is awesome. So much morally ambiguous genius--it's the best. Though the last book is disappointing.

Ahhhhh that would be so great!

Oh yes, completely unbiased. Absolutely. Definitely. XD Morally ambiguous characters are the best!

  4. The Arctic Incident is one of my favorite Artemis Fowl books--I love them all, but that one's especially wacky and great. Everyone has to team up and Commander Root quotes The Wizard of Oz. Need I say more?
