The Raven Cycle Book Tag!

hat tip, because school + driver's ed are devouring my days help
Because despite once swearing I never would, I've officially become Raven Cycle Trash.

1. In the books, Maura is the relaxed mom friend that is Blue's friend more than an actual mother. Who is your favorite mom character?
Okay, this is hard, as there are very few positive parent characters in most literature. But I'd have to go with Elwing from The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien, because I am, obviously, not a nerd.
(Acagrië.)

2. Adam wanted to go to Aglionby so he could one day escape where he came from. Have you ever dreamt of living somewhere else? Where?
OH YES. My dream home is a small downtown apartment in either Charleston, SC or New Orleans, LA.

3. In the second book, we meet the Gray Man. He is a hit man who loves poetry. Name a book you thought was going to be one thing and turned out to be something else.
It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini, also known as The Book I Was Told Would Change My Life, And It Did, Just Not For The Better.

4. Gansey has searched most of his life for a buried king who is promised to grant one wish. What is one wish you would ask Glendower?
World equality, I think.

5. In this series, you get to see Greenmantle as a fleshed-out character but also as a villain. Name your favorite villain.
AEDUAN FROM TRUTHWITCH. THE ULTIMATE BEAN.

6. Blue's got her Raven Boys. Who makes up your bookish team?
A wholly incomplete list:
Granny Weatherwax - Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett
Artemis Fowl - Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer
Kaz Brekker - Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo
Thorin Oakenshield (and basically the entire company lbr) - The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Angela - Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

7. Ronan is a badass with a sensitive side. What book have you read that was action-packed but had emotional scenes as well?
I WILL FIGHT A N Y O N E WHO HAS READ SONG OF ACHILLES AND DOES NOT GIVE IT AS THEIR ANSWER FOR THIS QUESTION.

8. Noah has a heart of gold. What character has touched your heart recently?
I've recently picked up Tamora Pierce's Emelan Universe series after years away from it, and I've been enchanted ten times over by Briar Moss. He's a super badass and sarcastic street thief who finds he has a magic gift for....plants.
You can call him any name in the book and he will not care, but threaten one of his plants and you're dead.
I love him.

9. Calla is a woman who speaks her mind and puts her foot down when necessary. Who is your favorite strong female character?
I'm going to have to make this a tie between Angela and Granny Weatherwax - they're both extremely badass witches who tolerate no nonsense and will string you up six ways from Sunday if you disobey them.

10. Chainsaw is an awesome Raven Boy pet. If you could have one "exotic" pet, what would it be? What would you name it?
Little-known fact about me: I actually already possess a dragon. Yup. His name is Tuddy, he's the size of a dachshund, and he sneezes purple sparkles.

I tag absolutely anyone who wants to do this! <3 So, let's chat! Favorite strong female characters? Dream home or exotic pet? If you could have one wish granted, what would it be? Comment below, and have a lovely day. <3

  1. Well I cannot have a dragon as a pet AS I AM A DRAGON BOOK HOARDING QUEEn. #legit But dragons are still the obviously wonderful answer to #10. Although like I lowkey kind of would enjoy having a pet marmot?? They're so cute! They'd probably kill me but whatever! And omg I have so so many strong female heroines I adore...Blue Sargent for instance. ;) And also Lada from And I Darken and Em from Ruined and Nina from Six of Crows and Kady from Illuminae. *pauses for a breath* WOMEN ARE AWESOME THAT IS ALL.

And I loooove this tag and I should do it sometime. I know someone tagged me a while back and I am 100% Raven Cycle trash and I have no regrets. :')

    1. OBVIOUSLY.

Awww that sounds so adorable. Pfft, whatever, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Nina? I don't know why, but I just never formed a connection to her at all. She irritated me almost constantly throughout the books. Inej was great, though <3

  2. Oh, a Raven Cycle book tag, that is so cool! I read this series for the first time this year and I am now also officialy Raven Cycle Trash <3 I may do this tag someday soon because I can never talk enough about the Raven Boys :)
Also, favorite strong female character? Ah, so many! I do love Katsa from Graceling, Manon from the Throne of Glass series and Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic. Also, a dragon or wyvern pet would be so cool, but since Fantastic Beasts I've also fallen in love with the Niffler :)

    1. I need to read A Darker Shade of Magic! And everywhere I go, I keep hearing about Manon. ToG is one of those series I'm not quite sure about; would you recommend it overall?
