Thoughts While Reading The Raven Cycle

The Raven Boys

1. WAIT WAIT WAIT. Which one's which? Which one's which help.

2. Don't tell me there's a love triangle.

3.  Awwww Adam.

4. Love triangle. There's a love triangle.

5. Good Lord, a helicopter. Can Gansey please find his chill?

6. I mean, it's a popular book, so I don't know why I didn't think there'd be a love triangle.

7. Calla is 100% the most badass. Forget Ronan. Calla's the one we should be scared of.

8.  PYNCH.

The Dream Thieves

9. Wait so am I not supposed to ship Ronan and Kavinsky? Because damn I ship Ronan and Kavinsky.

10. THE GREY MAN IS OFFICIALLY MY NEW FAVORITE CHILD.

11. Why is Gansey suddenly more bland than potato soup.

12. Ronan being afraid of elderly people is my new favorite thing.

13. Ronan and Adam had better get their asses up a tree and start K-I-S-S-I-N-G or I'll throw my book at the wall.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue

14. The title doesn't match the rest of the books. Why is this a thing.

15. I feel that, like Gansey, Greenmantle is also in severe need of chill.

16. WHAT THE HECK WHO EATS THE FRUIT BITS IN YOGURT.

17. Bluesey ship level: 3
Pynch ship level: 10

18. If anything bad happens to Jesse Dittley, I will hurt this book.

19. *AGGRESSIVELY HURTS THE BOOK*

20. What the heck, Neeve.

21. PERSEPHONE NO.

The Raven King

22. Damn. Now I want to have a toga party.

23. i Am SeNsInG gAy

24. Okay, so, pardon me if I'm missing something, but why can't Ronan just dream a device that automatically finds Glendower?

25. I HAVE FOUND THE GAY.

26. Wait wait wait - why was Declan trying to call Ronan at the very end? Do we never find out? What is this?

27. Noooooooah.

28. My children are happy and I am happy and Pynch is happening and I am happy.

  3. I HAVE READ THE RAVEN CYCLE!!!! But... and here's the part where you're probably going to hurt me... I just don't rate it that highly anymore. Not enough happened and - here's the part where you're going to hurt me even more - *whispers* I don't think I love the characters. I mean, I did, but then the Raven King was kind of a massive let down for me and it boggled my mind too much and having re-read the series, I still don't really get it...

    1. For me, the series jumped between two extremes - TRB and BLLB were both meh (extremely meh, in the case of BLLB), but TDT and TRK were awesome. So I definitely see where you're coming from! After the first book, I didn't really feel a connection to Adam, Blue, or Gansey anymore. I liked them, but they didn't really pop like Ronan, Henry, and Noah did.

Yeah, I do think TRK took the series in a totally different direction than it had been going up until that point. A few of the plot twists were fun, but there were a few too many and it felt like it didn't belong with the rest of the books as much.

  4. "Can Gansey please find his chill" is basically how I feel about this series hahaha. And lol, I love how you predicted the gay way back when.

I'm with you on BLLB though. What was Maggie Stiefvater thinking? THEY NEED TO MATCH.

  8. WELL HELLO. *slides out of the shadows* THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SERIES EVER AND I LOVE MY PRECIOUS RAVEN CHILDREN SO MUCH I COULD SCREAM AT LEAST 9 TIMES. OMGGGGGG. Pynch is everything. <3 Although I heartily don't think Gansey is bland. My precious child with severe anxiety. *cuddles him* AND THE ENDING OF THE RAVEN KING WAS THE BEST AND ALSO BROKE ME JUST A LITTLE, BUT PYNNNNNNCH.
    *shrieks wildly for a while*
*beams happily because you read this series*

    1. I liked him in The Raven Boys and The Raven King, but in the middle two books he just didn't do it for me. RONAN AND NOAH HOWEVER OH MY LORD. WHAT BEANS. WHAT PRECIOUS BEANS.

  9. omg I relate to these so freaking much! PYNCH. AND RONAN/ADAM (what's their ship name? Do they have one? I can't remember)

    1. Their ship name is Pynch (a combination of their last names, Parrish + Lynch). It's confusing when people use last names, isn't it? I guess most fans thought Pynch was easier to say than Radam :D
