5 Spring Break Resolutions + Goals

Hey, young bloods! I have a bit of a different post for you today as spring break starts tomorrow, and I'm not going on any vacations. As a result, I want to take the week off of school to be as productive as possible. I know I'll likely do a lot of service hours with my friends and hang out with my grandparents, but outside of that, I have several goals I want to accomplish:

1. Get out of the house at least once a day.
I'm definitely an introvert who likes to stay curled at home with my laptop and books, but I've found I'm so much happier when I get out and about. Once every day, I want to go on a short walk or excursion somewhere - maybe to a little free library, maybe to a tudor-style English manor that's open for tour near my home, maybe just up and down the street.

2. Make substantial progress on Four Suns Falling OR Karissa Goldlock's Guide to (Almost) Utterly Everything.
I have a problem.
I have way too many first drafts happening at the same time - six, last I checked, with ideas floating around for three more. I'm always putzing back and forth between the six drafts, writing a bit of one and then a bit of another, and never making lots of progress on a single one. This break, I want to focus exclusively on either Four Stars Falling, book one of my antihero + sorcery YA fantasy series, or Karissa Goldlock's Guide to (Almost) Utterly Everything, my MG steampunk standalone.

3. On the topic of writing, transfer all my notebook writings onto my laptop.
When I'm bored during class at school, I don't doodle - I write. As a result, my religion and chemistry notebooks are filled to the brim with short stories, poems, and scenes. Over break, I want to transfer all of them into Google Drive so that I have all my writing in one convenient spot and know what scenes from my books are written and which aren't.

4. Read, read, read!
American Spring, Les Miserables, An Empire on the Edge - a lot of the books I want to either read or finish soon are SUPER long, and I don't want to get bogged down in them and fall behind in my 2017 reading challenge. I plan to get a lot of reading done over break, at least finishing Les Miserables and American Spring.

5. Catch up on my diary.
I've fallen behind on my diary-keeping in the past week, and I really want to catch up over break. The sooner, the better!

Let's chat! When's your spring break? Do you have any special plans or goals? Comment below, and have an amazing day.

  1. Sounds like you have lovely spring break ahead of you! Mine's not for a few more weeks-- I'm going on a roadtrip of sorts to visit potential colleges... gah. But I am excited to see the places I may get to attend in the future, as daunting as it may be haha. Enjoy your quiet week, I love weeks like that :)

My spring break starts in a couple of weeks. I'll probably end up cooped up in the house all day, reading books :-)

  4. I'm on spring break this week as well! I have some pretty similar goals-- definitely to READ EVERYTHING and write in my journal more. Getting ahead on writing some blog posts would be great as well... and finishing homework is on the list too, I guess :) Hope you have a great spring break!
