Dear October | Sincerely, November

Dear Patrick Rothfuss: I finished The Name of the Wind this month after working through it since July, and I must say, with no amount of disrespect and every ounce of conviction, that it was, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, certainly, definitely, and totally – what’s the word?.

Too.

Freaking.

Long.

Favorite: The Assassin's Curse. Least favorite: Pericles.

Dear school: Junior year is supposed to be the worst, but it’s my favorite so far. I’m interested in and enjoying every single one of my classes, and I love how many APs I can take….

Do not change on me.

Dear Fall Out Boy: Due to wanting to tear my ears off every time I heard the first two singles from Mania, I thought I’d hate your latest release for sure.

And then, well.

It became my favorite song this month.

I guess no one eats my words more than I do.

Sincerely,
Ellie

Dear Georgetown: You’re my dream school. Please be everything I’m hoping for when I visit in a couple weeks.

Dear Reagan: HAVE THE BEST BIRTHDAY IN THE WORLD, GIRL.

Dear the Sword Art Online water bottle that is my pride and joy: Please find your way back to me. Please.

Sincerely,
Ellie

....because so many amazing bloggers have been putting out equally amazing content this month!

Bridgette Noel @ Bridgette Noel wrote an important, thought-provoking article on what it's like to be a queer teen in a society that so rarely understands you. As another member of the LGBT+ community, I totally related to this post. It was awesome to find someone who's been feeling the same things I always have.

Stella @ Monsters for Tea discussed the problem with lots of Rupi Kaur's 'uplifting' poetry. Even (especially) for those who like Kaur's work (including myself), this is a really important post to read.

On the lighter side, Ashley @ [Oddly Novel Title] compiled an awesome aesthetic/quotes post about The Raven Cycle. It made me so nostalgic for those books!

And Ely @ What Can I Say? published the prologue of her latest book. Someone get this girl a publisher, pronto!

As you probably figured out, I’ll be on hiatus in a couple weeks. From the 11th to the 16th, I'll be off doing college visits. Besides Georgetown, I’m checking out William & Mary, George Washington, Duke, and North Carolina at Chapel Hill! But I'll still be reading, writing, and trying to keep up with the blog a little better than I did in September.

Let's chat! How was your September? What books have you been reading? How about your music? How has school been going? Tell me all the things, and have a lovely day. <3

Namarië,
Ellie

  1. ahhhhhh thanks for the promo--you're so kind! <3 I'm glad you liked my random little scribble that ended up being such a key part of the novel. hoping to release other little snippets as editing progresses (which, as of rn, is not at all... *sighs*)

college visits are fun! I wish I had visited more--I actually only visited one when I was in high school, and I was so anxious about the whole endeavor that I just settled with that one. thankfully, I'm at a school much more suited to me as a person now. but the schools on your list sound really great! I hope you have a great time!

ps the last of the real ones was SO MUCH BETTER than the other released songs off Mania OH MY GOSH.

  2. WHELP THIS COMMENT IS JUST GONNA BE ME RAMBLING ABOUT FOB AND THE NEW MUSIC THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR K.
    ok
i relate to you with fob, young and menace made me want to die and champion was just ugh (well, until i started to listen to it more because it would come on the radio a lot + as someone who struggles with bipolar disorder, i can relate to the chorus a lot) and then the last of the real ones came out and i flipped out and fell in love with it. tbh, 2017 is kind of a big year for new music coming out, and like, i’m not usually a big fan of a band/artist’s new stuff, but i’m kind of in love with the newer stuff that have been put out (especially the new atl album, the new neck deep album, and halsey’s new album)
it’s 3 am i should shut the f*ck up and go to bed 😂 oh well

  3. I'll probably never read In The Name of the Wind for the exact reason you've given. Too big by far!
